Lorrie Farrelly is the award-winning author of not
only westerns but romance, Time Travel, suspense and paranormal books. She
tells me her favourite of her westerns is TERMS OF SURRENDER, about an
ex-confederate officer (Michael Cantrell) trying to find himself, post-American Civil
War, in the Wind River country of Wyoming.
Fleeing one conflict, he finds
himself caught up in another: the struggle of Annie Devlin and her
young brother, Robbie, to hang on to their ranch, which a more powerful
landowner covets. Michael finds himself not only fighting on Annie’s side, but falling
in love with her…
Post-Civil War veterans starting over
on the frontier reminded me of movies from RUN OF THE ARROW to DANCES WITH
WOLVES, and the TV series THE LONER.
The woman harried by a
rancher who wants her land brought to mind SHANE – not the book/movie versions
but the TV series with David Carradine and Jill Ireland.
TERMS OF SURRENDER was a winning medallist in the 2014 READERS' FAVORITE
INTERNATIONAL BOOK AWARDS and a FIRST PLACE WINNER in the 2014 LARAMIE AWARDS.

Reviewers:
‘I don't
think I've ever read a novel that addressed so extensively the residual
prejudices (not just racial) that remained to be dealt with following the end
of the War.’
‘Descriptions
are evocative and compelling... Readers can expect to find humor, violence,
gritty action, and exquisitely-wrought tension throughout… (This) is for
readers who seek more depth and layers in their stories.’
‘Another
beautifully crafted tale by Lorrie Farrelly… a mixture of passion and
nail-biting suspense.’
‘From the
first chapter, I was captivated by Ms. Farrelly’s wordsmith skills, as well as
the verisimilitude and historical accuracy she brought to the narratives and
dialogue about the War, the soldiers and their language.’
‘I
remained captivated by superb characterization and narrative.’
